For Jacob and my one week fall break from school, we went to Kauai, Hawaii to celebrate our one year wedding anniversary. This was my second trip to Hawaii (first being when Jacob proposed), and we explored the entire island.
We started on the south side in Poipu. Our good friends, Clarke and Makena, live on the south side and we were so excited to hang with them. The first few days of our trip we spent hanging on the beach, jumping off waterfalls, and eating lots of poke with Clarke and Makena. They took us to the west side and we drove up to Waimea Canyon with one of the most beautiful views I’ve ever seen.
Half way through the week, we left for an 11 mile trek on the Na Pali coast to Kalalau beach. This hike is rated the 4th most dangerous hike in the United States. It’s an extremely long and vigorous hike with an increase in 5,000 feet of elevation. It was exhausting to say the least but the breathtaking views and rinsing off under a waterfall made it all worth it.
We spent 3 nights camping on Kalalau beach. This beach is completely untouched and the only way to get there is by hiking the full 11 miles. The best part is it’s swarming with cute little kittens!!
We had such an incredible time, and can’t wait to go back in June after we graduate!!
